Eudora in depth
For those interested (mainly
ladymidath who has asked for a tale of Edora's background from my D&D game.... I have told her tale thus far under the cut ;)
Mon:
1) I forgot to mention for Sat, but I got my tuition check! Yay! Concerning Monday, I got out of work early enough to go deposit it, and I was able to get the 5th, 6th, and 7th off as well, so I don't go back to work until the 10th! =D Now all funds are in place for our soon to be vacation. Also for Sunday, I got to watch the new Walking Dead and the last two episodes of Boardwalk Empire. I wasn't really satisfied with how they ended the series as they left a bit unsettled for my taste, but in the end, I kind of saw things would come back around full circle.
2) Was able to get an hour nap with the whole family before going to Walmart to pick up a few odds and ends and back in time to get to my class... although I did log in late since Mozilla didn't want to play the chat, and I had to download Google Chrome to get it to work properly. I only missed 7 minutes which I'm listening to while I write this as I'd forgotten until now LOL!

I'm so excited! =D
For Halloween a little laugh LOL! I'm so freaking crass ;)

Eudora:
my character started life in the mountains and as a toddler saw her mother and as far as she knew siblings all slain in front of her by men on horseback. Her mother had been driven from the mountains after her father got into a scrape with other orcs and the fight didn't go well for him. Eudora fought her captors as fiercely as a toddler could as the cruel men laughed at her. The leader of their group, to make a point, had her tusks removed before dragging her back to their city state to become a slave.
The man owned a gladiatorial ring, and wanting to make a profit, he set to the task of trying to train the young orc girl, and when she refused to be trained, he had her beaten viciously. Still Eudora would not yield letting her anger bolster her using this anger to help her win within the gladiator ring. One fight had left her beaten so badly that she lay broken on death's door when the man's daughter saw her and pleaded to take care of her. The daughter, Marla was allowed to tend to the orc girl while being well guarded. It was this pity that Eudora found fascinating. She'd never been treated so gently. The daughter of a noble, Marla wanted to teach Eudora many things, but being a slave, Eudora had to be taught in secret.
Feeling special under the tutelage of Marla, Eudora would do her best to mimic the noble woman when in the privacy of Marla's estate. She was taught to read and histories of the Mycain culture. Wanting Eudora to be able to leave the estate with her, Marla had a special pendent made from the powers of Aphrodite that would disguise Eudora to look like a beautiful Mycain woman as long as the illusion was not challenged. Having this pendent opened Eudora's eyes to ways that she could be treated, and she grew to covet the pendent never wanting to take it off. Eudora embraced the Mycain culture through the use of the pendent and grew to loath her own heritage forsaking the orc race as not her own to a severe degree. More than anything, she wanted to be beautiful for Marla and through the years they had spent together had fallen in love with her.
While exploring the outer reaches of the Mycain territory, the Fosana, a might makes right viking society ransacked that village where Marla and Eudora had ventured to. Two of the Fosna men had deemed to take the women as wives. Eudora had fought, but had been rendered unconscious. The man meant to take her, but seeing the pendent, he snatched it from her neck and the illusion was broken. Appalled by what he saw, the Fosnian man reeled away in disgust dropping the pendent to the ground. His companion seeing the same and being superstitious of all things magic grabbed Marla and departed quickly leaving Eudora alone in a burning city.
This is where her story begins in game...
Eudora found her pendent finding a way to fasten it back around her neck before searching for what she could from the dead warriors left within the burning walls and retreated into the woods before the flames consumed the city. Hearing a scream in the dark, Eudora ran towards it to find a curious blue skinned girl being attacked by a panther. Lightening struck out from her hands, and the beast swatted the girl with a powerful blow. Eudora took action and dealt the killing blow to the beast before it was able to rend the girl to pieces. Trying to maintain her noble teachings, Eudora strained to remain aristocratic although painfully to the other party, Shalae, who told her her own tale. She was on the run from the Mycain capitol where she'd been held within the church of Posiden by a priest that kept her under lock and key to study her odd nature. A water Genasi, otherwise known as a person with the elemental heritage of water, was a rarity in a world of mostly humans. Eudora told Shalae of her quest to find her companion Marla and rescue her from the evil ways of the Fosna. Having nowhere else to go, Shalae decided to join Eudora in her quest.
Like kindred spirits, the odd found the odd. Eudora and Shalae crested the mountaintop to see a gray skinned giant, Gothak with a pixie, Lor' Doras riding atop his shoulder. There was difficulty exchanging words and even though Eudora knew three languages from her extensive teachings, she only shared a common language with Shalae who also thankfully shared a language with the two. These two had escaped enslavement from the dark elves and having no where else to be decided to also tag along to help Eudora find Marla. The group fought a small group of Fosnians at a camp they had discovered. Eudora's brash actions to rend the men leaving no survivors to question. They did find a trail leading towards the Fosnian raid party. Unfortunately while the group slept, Gothak was unable to perceive the stealthiness of the dark elves that subdued the party before they could awaken to even fight. Dragged beneath the depths of the ground, the group remained in captivity those forced to mine that could be made to while Eudora went through a phase of shock having here pendent taken from her to outrage attacking her captors on every turn to being sadistically tortured by the slave master who made a point to visit her daily and beat her down in an attempt to break her. Shalae and Lor had been moved to be tortured in different manners while Gothak remained in the same cell with Eudora where she was chained to the wall resisting her restraints until she'd pass out and he would heal her when he would return from a day of toiling.
In the three months before their escape, Gothaak taught Eudora to speak deep speech brokenly. Coming up with a plan, Gothak, Lor, and Eudora were able to ambush the casual guard around their cells and make their way to Shalae. Defeating the remaining guards that had her locked away, the slave master that owned the four came to put them back in their place. With great efforts, the four were able to defeat him, and Eudora regained her pendent. Upon putting the pendent back in place, she reverted to acting as noble as she could even though her new friends knew her to be an orc and now saw her as such, they knew better than to state it. Crawling through a sewer grate the crew were able to make it out of the dark elven hold. It had been three months, and the colder weather had moved in, and a deep seeded worry of what had become of Marla was all Eudora could think about.
The trail was cold, but Fosna were abundant in this area, setting off to find Marla once more, instead the party found a small band of Mycain soldiers. They recognized Shalae and saw the others that were not Eudora as a threat since she seemed like a Mycain citizen. The men could not be reasoned with, but it became clear that these men were under the employ of the priest of Posiden and were instructed to bring her back with them. They did not succeed on their mission and were quickly dispatched. Traveling further, a city on fire from a recent Fosnian attack was seen, and wanting to help, the group ventured in. There were soldiers that looked at them with mistrust attacking, and were subdued by the group rather than killed. For this act of mercy and the fact that Shalae used her powers to help put out the fires, Eudora, to them the only 'normal' looking one, was allowed to purchase food and supplies for her group that were given sanctuary to sleep within the burned out husks of the housing that remained standing until the morning. Eudora with the use of her pendent was able to seduce the general holding down the fort and gain information on the Fosna over a night of wine and other unmentionables.
Headed in the right direction, the four found another fight that ended with the death of Gothak. Many tears were shed from Shalae who blamed herself for his death. She had let the giant take a mighty blow in order to avoid combat thinking the giant hardier than she'd anticipated. He was a healer and a gentle giant that the Fosna proved to be too much for him to handle. They burned his body doing the best to preform the rights of the sun god he'd worshiped. Being a captive from the light for so long, the sun was an easy calling for him. Saddened by the loss the trio forged on.
Continuing towards the mountains, they came upon a caravan sponsored by a noble seeking to learn about the various religions. His name was Mikael who was also a Mycain. The caravan harbored a Nibian sorcerer that was incredibly difficult to keep track of and who seemed to be only interested in Mikael. The trio reluctantly agreed to travel with them as safety in numbers was not a bad idea. The group encountered a Fosnian war band where a follower of Zeus attempted to speak to their leader of the various graces of Zeus only to be beheaded. The leader rode atop a huge warbear, and with great efforts the leading band was slain and when attempting to take their leader prisoner, the remaining band charged. Mikael, Eudora, Lor, and Shalae being the only survivors (along with the Nibian whom had conveniently disappeared when the fighting began only to reappear at the end), cut the horses free from their wagons trussed up the unconscious leader and rode off as quickly as the horses could ride until the Fosnian army was but a speck in the distance. Trying to interrogate the prisoner led to defiance and finally suicide rather than giving in to any of demands. Having to evade the coming army, the group fled to the mountains where the frost had settled into a tundra landscape.
Traveling further they came upon ice sprites nearly losing Lor to as they seemed quite insistent to keep him coming back across the waters to entertain them. The party had hoped to glean some form of information from them, but their child-like nature left more frustration then anything, Lor was able to convince one of the ice sprites to lead the group to a path into the mountains and around to the other side of Fosnian territory. We had seemingly lost our pursuers though as we continued to the mountain. Confronted by dwarves within the mountain, they recognized the smell of an orc and became hostile. Hating orcs herself, it was not hard to convince Eudora to gain access through the mountain by clearing out a band of orcs that had been harassing the dwarves. They had asked for 100 orc heads, but after returning with the first 25 were stunned and admitted they had expected the party to have perished.
Wanting to cull the number of orcs further, Eudora lead their group back for another foray to return with another 25 heads. The dwarves were content, but Eudora was not wishing to stop before fulfilling the true asked quota. Returning to the depths of the mountain an epic battle was fought to take down the chieftain and his second in command while the many more fearful orcs watched on. The fight ended with the chieftain asking for mercy before Eudora landed the killing blow. Filled with so much rage and hate for herself being an orc, she did not hear his plea and cut him down. The shaman of the group then stepped forward cursing them to leave, and taking the bodies of the two, the group departed as the shaman started to bring down the walls around them.
Getting back to the keep, the heads of the orc leaders were mounted on pikes, and the group was now seen to be true friends of the dwarves in so much as to even be accepted as 'dwarf.' It wasn't until later that Eudora realized that the haunting words of the Shaman came back to her, "Your own rage will be your undoing, and in the end what you have done will hurt you more." Taking in the heads, she recognized the features of the chieftain to be her youngest brother. He had escaped, and she had ended him. She was confused and distraught by the news vowing to herself to no longer let her anger rule her further.
A few nights of drinking commenced with the dwarves before they led the group to a series of tunnels leading to the closest Fosnian encampment. Leading to further bloodshed, the village chieftain was slain, but Marla was nowhere to be found. Gathering the noncombatants that were left to try and get some idea where Marla could have been taken led to mostly resistance, but as soon as one spoke after being promised freedom, the others knifed her. The other warriors were seen by Lor who had been posted as a lookout, and our group ran back to the tunnels. Unfortunately the Fosnian of that village were hot on our heels. The dwarves protected us drawing beard hairs among the elderly to choose who would bring the walls down and fell the tunnel before the Fosnian could break through to get to us. We felt horrible that we'd brought death to our new friends and vowed to not be so careless in the future.
Taking the map of Fosnian territory the dwarves had given us, we did our best to make it to High Rock the capitol city as what had been spoken by the fearful Fosnian woman before her fellow Fosnian's silenced her is that a woman that sounded like Marla may have been taken there. Chaining Shalae, we tried to disguise ourselves to move through the first city heading to High Rock and barely were able to fool the high chief who saw through Eudora's disguise. Luckily Mikael was able to convince the woman chief thattboth Eudora and Shalae were his 'wives' meanwhile, Lor reamined hidden away within Eudora's pack. Between cities the party rested, and when they awoke, the Nibian and Mikael had disappeared in the night (This is when Sean was taken out of the game)
Using a ritual to stealth us, Shalae helped an otherwise quite loud Eudora be able to sneak in to High Rock. Lor's pixie dust was able to lift her above the scent radius of the war bear in a most harrying pursuit that the three managed to avoid combat from within the deepest part of the mountain. Eudora questioned a group of prisoners that were able to finally pin down where Marla had been taken, and it wasn't High Rock. Avoiding capture through impossible odds, they made it out of High Rock under heightened guard pursuit. Upon leaving the mountains we found a curious individual that wore armor like none we recognized. He carried a cube that once we came out to speak to him we learned the man, Kirik a cleric of Helm, had used to world jump to our plane. He agreed to travel with us to the last known whereabouts of Marla, and upon reaching the village, Eudora attempted diplomacy with their chief. He instead took the diplomacy as a means to claim Eudora while one of his men claimed Shalae as a wife with the plan to kill Kirik.
The group took out the foot soldiers and the warbear in quick order, and just as Eudora was about to slay the chief, a village woman burst from out of the tall grass to lay herself over the bleeding man and beg for mercy on his behalf. With shock, Eudora realized it was Marla who stared up at her with teary eyes. She laid her ax upon the ground and reached out for Marla in confusion. Marla retreated from her telling her that she was happy to be away from the corruption of Mycye and that she loved this man, Eudora proclaimed her own love to which she was rebuffed with the cold fact that Marla only loved her as a sister. Feeling defeated, Eudora cried to lose the woman she had fallen in love with to this man, and knowing she had lost her turned to leave. Marla begged her to stay, but Eudora knew she could and would not compete with another for Marla's love. She stormed away from Marla and her new love with tears in her eyes. Marla ran back to retrieve a sack with several items leaving after dropping it at the other woman's feet. The chief promised that they could leave without repercussion. Eudora found an icy peak in the distance to sit while she digested what had just transpired. Shalae comforted her as did her other friends wanting to know where to go next. Eudora told Kirik that she'd be more than willing to follow him into his strange cube as there was nothing left on this world that held her to it. The others also seemed willing to join him on his search for his homeworld. Before any serious decisions could be made, the Earth around them erupted as major shifting of tectonic plates rumbled through the ground. There wasn't many places to run the group thought as they huddled close trying to ascertain what to do next!
(That is where we are currently, I hope you enjoyed the recap and back story for those who took the time to read! :P)
