Rules: In a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard — they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you. Tag ten friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them!
1) One of the first books I remember leaving an impression on me was Island of the Blue Dolphins. I remember wanting to BE her so bad! Most people would think being left to survive with no one but yourself would be terrifying, but as a child that was a dream come true to me. Something about the struggle seemed so exciting and adventurous.
2) My Side of the Mountain was very similar to the above being all about sole survivor... can you see a theme here? LOL!
3) The Metamorphosis This was a short story that to this day every time I read it breaks my heart. It's an interesting look at such an odd circumstance and so wonderfully written that I just couldn't help being drawn in.
4) Watchmen This is a graphic novel, and I've read some good comics, but none have touched me like this one I can say because it's look in to humanity was so well done on so many levels... that and it made a superhero life feel more believable. Rorschach was my fave for those who have read the story, his grittiness and outlook is what really drew me in :)
5) The Gunslinger One of Stephen King's best works, I've yet to finish the series, but the characters were fun, and I remember it most because of where I was when I started reading this book. It was one of my fondest memories camping in Sweet Home Oregon reading this book by fire light :)
6) Aesop's Fables I used to eat these stories up as a child, and to be honest, I really think they rounded my out look on morality.
7) Choose Your Own Adventure books! I remember I used to check out like 14 of them at a time and blow through every one of them (every possible ending) in a night's time! I adored the aspect of being able to control the story! (I was a role player before I ever knew what role playing was! LOL! XD)
8) 1984 The inner fear that this story brought to life was amazing. I do see a lot of what happened in this book as being a possible reality the way society is heading.
9) Atlas Shrugged Very like 1984 in setting, but more introspective. It was the story of morality and individualism. Very powerful read that left my mind blown!
10) Lord of the Flies Such a sad and devastating story of how a fight for survival can twist people in the most dark ways. The story being told from the point of view of children only makes it that much more powerful I think.
Of course The Lord of the Ring series, Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe series, Nietzsche, Treasure Island and Tarzan also deserve mention :P

Positive things!
Tues:
1) I left a little early from work on Monday, but I made up for the time missed working an extra three hours. There was a distribution wide meeting where they mentioned wanting people to step into management through a leadership development program, I got to thinking that with my career path I might want to try it out. I asked my supervisor what he thought, and he told me thought I'd make an excellent supervisor. That really made me feel good. Who knows, I might be a supervisor in the near future. We will see. :)
2) I finished my last discussion board along with student responses and boring ass chat! (one more chat to go, poor guy, he's not a bad guy, but I literally have to fight to stay awake listening to him drone on LOL!)
3) Had a great time chatting back and forth with

Wed:
1) Got an hour nap! I only slept 45 minutes Monday and 2 hours on Tuesday, so I was knock down exhausted! I tried to do a little interneting yesterday, but didn't get very far into the ever growing stack of emails, so getting some rest leaves me feeling a lot better (especially since it's now 10:30, and Nox is still wide awake... 0o
2) I'm taking a day off from school work with only one last assignment left to do! I needed a break to just rest and let my brain off the hook for a little while :P
3) Today and for the next two days, I get yummy food! Toya's mom (a gal I work with) has been offering lunch plates for $7 a piece to raise money for the grandkids to take a school trip, so we are doing our part to help, and the food is DAMN GOOD! Chicken with seasoned fries and lemon cake was today's lunch, tomorrow is fish, baked beans, and potato salad (all home made to :P)
